St. Lundi - Ready To Be Loved (Radio Date: 03-02-2023)

‘Ready To Be Loved’ fully displays how St. Lundi’s compelling blend of classic pop songcraft and heart-on-sleeve candour is making a huge connection with people who relate to the universal experiences that he explores. Already a live favourite, the up-tempo, instantly catchy song is about taking a romantic leap of faith and fully committing to a loved one. From the emotive opening line, “Laying out on the ground with the waves rolling in, we’re counting the stars and the lines on our skin,” it shows the strength of St. Lundi’s lyrics and melodic, soulful vocals. The track then builds into a huge chorus set for arenas. St. Lundi explains, “I wrote Ready To Be Loved about the experience of allowing myself to be loved for the first time.

Whilst writing the song with my relationship in mind I realised that I had felt this way once before when I stepped out onto a stage for the first time at the age of 20, after being too afraid to sing in front of others for years before. The song and video are really about being the truest version of yourself and letting people love you for it. We thought a nice way of showing that would be through someone that has lost touch with their passion whilst growing up but then rediscovers it and starts to feel like themselves again.”

St. Lundi wrote ‘Ready To BeLoved’ with its producer Ollie Green (Gavin James, Tom Grennan, Ella Henderson, Freya Ridings).

The track’s launch is accompanied by its official video, which was directed by Oli Brotherhood. It sees St. Lundi sitting alone at a piano whilst it tells the story of a heartbroken man constrained by life. Eventually he becomes set free of the negative emotions that held him back and we witness his euphoria as he lets go and feels joy again. From Hayling Island on England’s south coast, St. Lundi released his debut EP ‘Heavy Words’ in 2020. At the end of last year he released the stunning ballad ‘Fallen Like A Star’ while his profile has also soared due to his collabs with Kygo and SEEB as well as further shows with LÉON and Justin Jesso, plus a ‘Nights Like This’ remix courtesy of Michael Calfan. His emotionally charged, dramatic pop has inspired positive comparisons with Ben Howard and Coldplay.
