CELESTAL: BLACKBIRD (feat. Devon Graves)

CELESTAL, whose real name is Cédric, has always been an artist. The French musician, originally from Lorraine, began his musical career at the age of just five, studying classical music and jazz at the conservatory. For fourteen years, he refined his talent as a musician, gradually integrating electronic music into his classical training. At the age of 18, he started DJing, which then opened Pandora’s box to the world of production. His first remix, “In Your Eyes” by Kylie Minogue, was signed by EMI. Over the years, he made a name for himself as a ghost producer and made official remixes and productions for The Black Eyed Peas, Shakira, Enrique Iglesias, Britney Spears and many others.

Before fully dedicating himself to his musical career, he first satisfied his second passion: fashion. From highend fashion houses to prestigious brands, he refined his taste for beauty and strengthened his mastery of image, all the while continuing to mature his artistic project. His style began to take shape, drawing inspiration from British pop music, the legendary Stevie Wonder, and house music icons such as Frankie Knuckles, Steve ‘Silk’ Hurley, and David Morales. The result is an elegant pop music, tinged with electro and rich in emotion, sometimes with a touch of melancholy, that breaks free from the standards.

In 2017, finally feeling ready, Cédric made way for CELESTAL, and released his first single under his artist name. His first two tracks, “Naturally” and “Colors” allow him to establish his name among the few successful artist-producers on a national scale, but it was with “Old School Romance”, his third single at the end of 2018, that he crossed borders.

The track entered the Top 100 Global Shazam Charts, earning two No. 1 hits in Italy (on the radio airplay & Shazam charts). “Old School Romance” has accumulated more than 15 million streams worldwide. CELESTAL made his mark by inviting Fanny Sage, dancer and ambassador for Yves Saint Laurent and Chanel N°5, to star in the music video. The fashion, dance and music of CELESTAL are one.

In 2022, “OUT IN STYLE” in duet with CECILIA KRULL (the singer of “My Life Is Going On” the hit theme song of the series La Casa De Papel/Money Heist) and “OVER YOU”, a collaboration with the German DJ SHARAM JEY and the English singer MOSS KENA (Singer of PURPLE DISCO MACHINE’s “Fireworks”, the summer hit of 2021) confirm the indisputable success of CELESTAL in France and Europe (carried in France by all media, from NRJ to RTL, via Spotify, Deezer or Apple Music).

With “BEAUTIFUL LIE”, his single released last year, CELESTAL returns to the style that suits him best: a chic pop-folk tinged with electro. Supported by the folky voice of DEVON GRAVES (American artist with whom CELESTAL regularly co-writes and co-composes) and the emotion-filled guitars of GRYNN (already present on “Old School Romance”), “BEAUTIFUL LIE” ironically reflects on the society of appearances while remaining resolutely positive.

After the success of “BEAUTIFUL LIE” (in France – played by 6 national radios, and abroad – in Europe and Africa), CELESTAL continues in beautiful collaboration with DEVON GRAVES on co-composition and vocals for its new single. Carried by a powerful gospel choir, BLACKBIRD is a message of hope, in the pop-folk vein of its previous track.

Pure indie pop!

CELESTAL about BLACKBIRD:

“BLACKBIRD is an anthem of hope and resilience. The message is, despite the shadows and fears of the unknown, it is possible to find a way out.

I wanted a to feature a gospel choir that crescendos to the end, transporting us with them to highlight the transition from fragility to refined strength.”
